LSU Linebackers

LSU is one of the best linebacker schools in the country. Kevin Minter, Kendell Beckwith, Deion Jones, Duke Riley and Kwon Alexander all passed through Baton Rouge. Devin White was a first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Ravens lost C.J. Mosely in free agency and enter the 2019 season with Patrick Onwuasor and Kenny Young manning the middle. Both have had promising starts to their young careers. However, depth is a huge area of concern.

Well, LSU is the perfect answer. They run a bit of a dynamic defense. Jacob Phillips is the true middle linebacker, playing a typical role for the position. Phillips is a freak of an athlete and he roams the field for LSU. He plays all over the defense, displaying an ability to cover, rush the passer and defend the run. His versatility will make him a treat in the NFL.

Phillips is joined by two other dynamic athletes in Michael Divinity and K’Lavon Chaisson.

Divinity and Chaisson play many different roles for the Tigers. They play everywhere and line up in a variety of spots. Both have experience as outside edge rushers but can also cover well enough to play inside.

Divinity has much more experience than Chaisson, but Chaisson is a better overall athlete. Chaisson is regarded as one of the best linebackers in the country but hasn’t played much in college. He tore his ACL in the first game of the 2018 season. The versatility among the LSU linebackers should leave the Ravens with options.
