3. Jake Kumerow, Receiver

The ultimate Cinderella story in 2018, which involved former undrafted free agent receiver Jake Kumerow, was derailed before the season could even start. After showing extreme promise during the preseason, Kumerow ironically injured his shoulder celebrating an 82-yard touchdown reception after a somersault in Green Bay’s preseason matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was subsequently placed on injured reserve for the first eight weeks of the season. He appeared in just five games, logging eight receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns. His best performance came against the New York Jets in Week 16, where he recorded three receptions for 68 yards and one touchdown.

Kumerow has a lot to prove in training camp, especially since the receiver group may be the deepest position on the roster, but at least he has Aaron Rodgers on his side. Rodgers went out of his way earlier this offseason to praise Kumerow in a locker room interview (via Packers.com), stating Kumerow is “always in the right place at the right time” and that he “does the little things”.

But Kumerow will need more than just praise from Rodgers if he wants to make the final 53-man roster. Assuming he has a similar preseason to what he had last year, though, he should have no problem making the roster.
