There have been three straight winning seasons since 2016 but just one playoff appearance. So what numbers stand out the most for the Tennessee Titans?

Talk about being in a bit of a rut. The Tennessee Titans have won nine games each of the past three seasons. Of course, it could be far worse and not long ago it certainly was. Yes, this franchise is a far cry from its dismal two-year run of 5-27 from 2014-15.

The team’s latest showing was a 9-7 finish this past year. It was a campaign highlighted by inconsistency, full of many winning and losing streaks. First-time NFL head coach Mike Vrabel proved to be a gambler on occasion and it both paid off and came back to bite the team at other times.

Injuries at the quarterback position once again proved to be a detriment while the team’s talented defense did not always live up to its end of the bargain. So one year after, nine victories was good enough to get the Titans into the postseason party, an identical 9-7 mark saw the team come up short of this goal this past year.

So now Vrabel and company are chasing both the Houston Texans and the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South. And given their performance against these two clubs late in 2018, there’s a lot of catching up to do. Tennessee’s final three losses of the season came at the hands of these divisional rivals (2 to the Colts, 1 to the Texans) — by a combined 105-44 score.

Obviously, this team has some work to do. So what are the numbers worth remembering when it comes to these Titans?
