Jacksonville Jaguars training camp: Storylines, camp battles and expectations
By Larry Brake
The Jacksonville Jaguars may have found their guy to lead them to their first Super Bowl appearance in Nick Foles, leaving expectations high for 2019.
The Jacksonville Jaguars experienced a rapid decline last season after their just-as-rapid ascension in 2017. Injuries took their toll on the team in ways unimaginable than in previous seasons. Jacksonville finished in last place while trying to defend their AFC South divisional title.
Super Bowl LII MVP Nick Foles will now replace Blake Bortles under center for the 2019 season after signing a lucrative contract with Jacksonville in free agency. Bortles’ play was deemed too erratic to fix on a consistent basis. Jacksonville will look to Foles to lead them to the promise land.
The Foles era begins this week as training camp opens. Your first opportunity to see him in action is July 25 at the Dream Finders Homes Practice Complex in Jacksonville. Practice is slated to begin at 8:15 a.m. ET and gates will be opened at that time.
Parking is free to the public. You have to register at Jaguars.com for tickets to attend practices. There is a season ticket members only practice scheduled for Saturday, July 27.
The Jaguars roster has more depth and should make the team more competitive. Several rookies are going to be major contributors on both sides of the ball. This training camp should mark the beginning for a new generation for Jaguars football.
As we enter training camp, we’ll first look at the notable additions and departures for Jacksonville’s roster before opening up with the storylines that fans need to be watching leading up to the regular season.
