Realistic Expectations for 2019

Doug Marrone has been on the hot seat after the melt down of the Jaguars through the 2018 season. Some have questioned his disciplinary methods and have wondered if he is too much hands off in his approach. The game in Buffalo was definitely one of the low points of last season.

Marrone’s decision to replace Bortles with Cody Kessler backfired. The inept offense got worse. It got so bad that Nathaniel Hackett was relieved of his job. Now, there’s a new coordinator running the offense.

Jacksonville faces new challenges heading into the 2019 season. All their title hopes are pinned on the arm of Foles. Expect the defense to be as good, if not, better than past teams. Allen could be the difference maker in the event of a prolonged holdout by Ngakoue.

Jacksonville will have to win the AFC South to make the playoffs. It will take 10 wins or more for a team to grab a Wild Card slot. The schedule is very favorable to achieve ten wins or more. Kansas City comes to town in Week 1. Last season, Jacksonville got humiliated on the road in Kansas City. The season could get a jump start if they could pull off the upset.

Realistically, the Jaguars have struggle against Tennessee. They get them early in Week 3. They must win that game to make a decisive statement. Expect an 8-8 record in 2019.
