The Pittsburgh Steelers fell short of the playoffs last season. Now, the team needs to restore order to their locker room and move forward.

It’s hard to believe that the Killer Bs era is over with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Things seemed so promising, but they collapsed so quickly and the team never achieved the success that was expected of them.

While how the last year unfolded for the Steelers is disappointing, it’s best for the team and fans to look toward the upcoming seasons. Considering all of the changes to the roster and the team’s composition, the team will have to answer a lot of questions this season.

For now, these are five questions the Steelers can at least begin to figure out in training camp and the early part of the preseason.

5. Will the team keep the peace?

The state of the Steelers locker room has come up in discussions for the last year and a half now. Most of the issues revolved around superstar players like Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. Now that those two are gone, Pittsburgh has a chance to restore normalcy to the team.

Veteran leaders like Cameron Heyward and Maurkice Pouncey need to be very vocal and maintain control over any potentially volatile situations. Head coach Mike Tomlin also needs to assert his presence. Tomlin has never been the most vocal or disciplinary coach, but he must recognize when drama is brewing in the future and snuff it out.

Most importantly, Ben Roethlisberger needs to be a better leader. To some degree, he alienated Brown and that contributed to the star’s dramatic break-up with the team. Roethlisberger needs to work on building sincere relationships with his key offensive playmakers while learning who he can and can’t criticize publicly.

Steelers fans are hoping for a quieter, more focused locker room atmosphere this season. Pittsburgh has a golden opportunity to recognize their mistakes and make a culture change while remaining competitive in the AFC. Now, the team must capitalize on this chance.
