Seattle Seahawks training camp: 3 Players with most to prove
By Samuel Teets
The Seattle Seahawks have brought in plenty of young talent in the last three years, but that has led to what will be a very competitive camp this summer.
The Seattle Seahawks are a team changed an adapted last season and we can expect more of the same in 2019. The Seahawks have a roster stocked with players entering their first, second or third seasons. It’s been a large-scale reworking of the roster.
Somehow, the team managed to remain highly competitive last season. Now that we’ve seen Seattle defy the odds and thrive in a “rebuilding” season, the team will be expected to succeed in the coming seasons as well.
Seattle’s training camp begins July 25 and ends on Aug. 15. NFL players will tell you that training camp is the most hated part of the season. It’s mentally and physically arduous and stressful, for both veterans and young players. However, training camp allows players to prove themselves to the coaching staff and their teammates. It’s where the evaluation process of players and the team as a whole kicks off.
Camp means more for players who are on the roster bubble than guys like Bobby Wagner or Russell Wilson. Roster bubble players always have the most to prove, but I didn’t want to focus solely on those players because there’s a good chance most would be cut or never see action this season anyway.
Instead, this article focuses on some familiar players who are at risk of losing starting jobs or even their roster positions. The following three players have a lot to prove in training camp. If they fail to live up to expectations, then their worlds and careers will be changed forever.
