The New Orleans Saints have a lot of talent but only 53 roster spots to give out. Subsequently, which three players still have a lot left to prove?

After months of waiting, the regular season is almost upon us. It feels like it’s been years since the 2018 season wrapped up. Even though it hasn’t been that long, New Orleans Saints training camp is here so that’s something to hold all of us over. Training camp is always exciting, mostly because we get to see favorites, both new and old.

Whether it be veterans or rookies, everyone ends up at training camp at some point. For the  Saints, the first two weeks are dedicated to the rookies and free agents trying to nab a roster spot. Some big names are in that list including second-round pick Erik McCoy and early stud Chauncey Gardner-Johnson who are both receiving early praise from coaches.

Some players aren’t as fortunate, though. A lot of players currently attending training camp won’t even end up on the roster. It’s a sad fact, but it’s part of what makes the NFL such a cutthroat business. Having a lot to prove during training camp is tough as you’re still trying to play as well as you can while knowing you’re entirely replaceable.

For the most part, the Saints already have a pretty stacked roster. Most of their starters have returned or they fill in the gaps where necessary. However, there are a few players in training camp who have a challenge in front of them.

Whether it be a rookie, a player who has off-the-field troubles or a veteran, no one is safe from getting cut. In particular, there are three players who need to make an impression and have to show they were worth what the Saints paid for.
