Chicago Bears: 5 Burning questions for 2019 entering training camp

While the Chicago Bears have huge aspirations and expectations for 2019, there are questions as they head into training camp. Here are five of them.

Training camp is almost upon us. The Chicago Bears officially begin the defense of their NFC North division title. They also seek to make a long playoff run. Actually, they have a “Super Bowl or bust” feeling. They have a great feeling for this season after having a great 2018 season.

There has been a lot of talk by the players, showing an incredible amount of confidence in how successful their season can become. They don’t believe in the regression that many experts say will happen to the Bears.

Last offseason, general manager Ryan Pace made a roster overhaul. He made a number of acquisitions through free agency and did a great job with the draft. This offseason, it wasn’t an overhaul, but more of a tinker.

He made the tough decisions that he’s paid to make, such as trading away popular running back Jordan Howard. In the process, the Chicago Bears now have a more flexible offense with multiple weapons for quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.

While the defense lost two starters through free agency, they still have nearly the same unit returning. They have replacements for those starters who the team feels can outplay their predecessors. They also added some depth, adding young players who may eventually become starters in the future.

While there are high hopes running around Halas Hall, there are some questions. There are a few “what ifs” that go a long way to determining how well the season progresses. There are also some players who are unknowns who are called upon to be key players. Some of those questions may be answered during training camp and the preseason. Some may only be answered once the bell rings and the season begins.
