Fantasy Football 2019: Biggest potential bust at each position
Biggest Bust WR: A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals
By now, you may be thinking that I’m off my rocker for these potential busts but this may be the truest one mentioned yet. A.J. Green is considered undervalued by some analysts, but he still remains overvalued due to his inability to remain on the field and the presence of teammate Tyler Boyd.
FantasyPros has him sitting as the WR12 in PPR leagues. In 12-man leagues, that considers him as team’s WR1. His health has been a question the past few years, including last year where he only played in nine games.
It seems there are too many seasons where Green suffers an injury that holds him out for a number of games, which makes him a big no-go in fantasy football. That combined with his ADP of 34th should make it clear that he is not worth the time in the first four rounds. In the past five seasons, he has missed 16 total games. Avoid that all together.
In 2017, his last full season, he finished asWR10. That was without a weapon like Boyd having emerged fully in the offense, though. Fans may automatically assume that, due to Boyd, Green will face less double coverage, but Andy Dalton learned that Boyd is more than capable to carry the load. Green should no longer be considered a WR1 in any aspect. Because if you expect him to be a top-10 receiver, he will be a bust.
Green’s injury history and Boyd earning his keep, along with Joe Mixon being the centerpiece of the offense, make Green no more than a mid-range WR2 for your fantasy football rosters this year.
