The New York Jets begin their 2019 training camp in Florham Park, New Jersey on July 27. These three players have the most to prove once that camp opens up.

After drafting Sam Darnold third overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, the New York Jets felt as though they were ready to turn a corner. Armed with their franchise quarterback, they went out in an attempt to take the next step as a franchise, but instead they struggled mightily. New York finished the season at 4-12 which led to a change in coaching.

They moved on from Todd Bowles and hired former Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase. Their new coach has more than his fair share of shortcomings — including an inability to get along with star players — but he’s been giving the nod of approval from future Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning.

Manning, and other Gase supporters, tout his ability to get the most out of quarterbacks which appeals to the Jets who are hopeful that their young signal-caller can finally give them some long-term stability at the position. His development, or lack thereof, will be the biggest determining factor into whether or not the hiring of Gase was a success.

As much as the new head coach has to prove himself, there will be others who have to do the same. While the head coach is in charge of the team, he does inherit a team that hasn’t had a winning record since 2015 and their last winning season prior to that was in 2010.

With that being said, here are three players for the New York Jets who enter the 2019 training camp with the most to prove.
