4 Reasons Kansas City Chiefs should trade for Melvin Gordon
By Adam Patrick
Familiar with the division
If the Chiefs were able to acquire Melvin Gordon this year, one thing they wouldn’t have to worry about his performance against teams within the AFC West. Since Gordon has been with the Chargers for his entire NFL career, he’s already faced the other teams within Kansas City’s division multiple times.
In his matchups with the Denver Broncos, the current Los Angeles running back has had some solid performances. Just last year, Gordon amassed 156 total yards on 24 touches in the Chargers’ Week 11 game against the Broncos.
Against the Oakland Raiders, the young running back has looked very impressive. Gordon has finished with at least 120 total yards in his last four meetings with the Raiders and he’s also scored at least one touchdown in four of his last five matchups against the silver and black.
Being that he’s spent all of his time in the league with Los Angeles, one would imagine that he would be pretty familiar with what their defense is capable of. If he’s facing the Chargers in a Chiefs’ uniform, give the advantage to Gordon who would have the luxury of having Andy Reid calling plays for him.
