4 Reasons Kansas City Chiefs should trade for Melvin Gordon
By Adam Patrick
The time to go all-in is now
Last season, the Chiefs were so close to earning a spot in Super Bowl LIII. Kansas City pushed the New England Patriots to the brink during last year’s AFC Championship, but in the end, they left the field on the wrong side of the scoreboard.
For 2019, the goal for the Chiefs is to obviously reach the Super Bowl this time. But there is no guarantee that they will have another successful season like they did in 2018. A number of teams who have made their conference championship, fail to live up to their large expectations during the following year.
Just look at the Denver Broncos have recently experienced. The Broncos won the Super Bowl in 2015 and then they didn’t even make the playoffs in 2016.
Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL and that is why Kansas City needs to take every step necessary in order to reach their ultimate goal. Trading for Melvin Gordon would certainly put the Chiefs on the right path.
Football is not a sport where teams can count on being competitive every year. Most franchises have a small window to win and it’s up to everyone involved with that team to do whatever they can to capture a championship.
Kansas City’s window to win is right now and figuring out how to add Gordon to their roster would definitely increase their chances at ending the team’s 50-year Super Bowl drought.
