4. WR Taquan Mizzell

The Chicago Bears did a lot to overhaul the running back position. They traded away Howard and parted ways with Benny Cuningham. They brought in David Montgomery and Kerrith Whyte through the draft and signed Mike Davis in free agency. Additionally, they picked up wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson but he’ll spend some time in the backfield as well.

Because of that, running back Taquan Mizzell moved over to wide receiver. He played mostly on special teams but in 2018 he played in nine games with the offense. With just 16 rushing yards on nine carries, he jumped at the chance of moving to wide receiver.

The problem is that the Bears made some moves at the wide receivers position as well. They drafted Riley Ridley and picked up Emanuel Hall. Mix them in with Patterson and the players they already had (Allen Robinson, Anthony Miller, Taylor Gabriel, Javon Wims) and this position is very talented.

Mizzell is facing an uphill battle on making the team. Even on special teams he has a problem. Patterson, Cohen, and Whyte are strong special teams returners who are quicker and speedier than Mizzell so his grasp on that position that was pretty tight is very loose now.

He’ll have to perform great during camp and in preseason games in order for him to make enough of an impression to stay on this team.
