After a disappointing first three years as a pro, receiver Trevor Davis has been lighting up training camp so far. Davis’ career to date has mainly been hampered by injuries, so he hasn’t really had a chance to showcase his true abilities. He’s appeared in 29 of 48 possible career games and only played in two games in 2018 due to a nagging hamstring injury.

Knowing he would need a strong start to camp, it appears Davis had seized the opportunity presented to him. The Packers have a log jam at receiver after Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, so it’s not unrealistic Davis could be the No. 4 receiver on the depth chart at the end of the preseason, provided he continues to impress.

Davis was a big surprise during the offseason, showing major strides in OTAs and minicamp. He’s carried over that success into training camp and has even caught the attention of his teammates. Left tackle David Bakhtiari had great things to say about Davis during an appearance on the Rich Eisen Show this week, stating Davis “fits the offense very well”.

If Davis continues to impress in the passing game as a receiver, he should be a lock to make the final 53-man roster. He figures to be Green Bay’s No. 1 option as a returner, which adds major value to his roster spot.
