New York Giants – CB Julian Love

The New York Giants drafted two defensive backs in the 2019 NFL Draft. Deandre Baker will get all the hype but it’s Julian Love who could make some noise. Love has a special set of skills that works for an aggressive defense. He has the ability mirror receivers, making him ideal in man coverage.

Because of his quick feet and fluidity, he’s effective in zone coverage as well. Loves’ instincts and ball skills make him the perfect prospect for James Bettcher’s defense. While not the same player, Bettcher will exploit Love’s versatility by having him play safety and corner.

New York Jets – DT Quinnen Williams

Expectations are riding high for the Jets under new head coach Adam Gase. The offense will receive much attention with Sam Darnold and Le’Veon Bell as the focal points. But the defense will be a major factor in the Jet’s success, and rookie Quinnen Williams will be a standout performer for that group.

Williams has both elite physical traits and an elite skill set. Against the run and pass, he makes plays in the backfield using low padding and power to control his man. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams will put Williams in the best position to make plays. Plus, alongside him are two immensely talented linemen, Leonard Williams and Henry Anderson. Expect Williams to jump off the screen and into opponents’ backfields.
