The Chicago Bears welcome the Carolina Panthers to Soldier Field as each team begins their 2019 preseason. Here’s how fans can watch the game.

After the success that the Chicago Bears enjoyed last season, their primary goal for the 2019 season is just not losing a step. Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers are aiming to take a giant step forward after falling short of the postseason last year. Each team will begin their plight to accomplish those goals at Soldier Field on Thursday in the first game of each team’s preseason slate.

The Bears will enter their second season under Matt Nagy, which has expectations and pressure running high for quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. He needs to take a big step forward this season and, with players like Allen Robinson, Tarik Cohen and rookie David Montgomery around him, he has the tools to make it happen. We’ll get the first look at how much that happens against Carolina.

However, there may be more to learn about the Panthers in this preseason affair. While Cam Newton (minus his shoulder) and Christian McCaffrey are known commodities, the roster isn’t unanimously in that position. Rookie edge rusher Brian Burns and rookie offensive tackle Greg Little could play key roles for Carolina in 2019 but both need to step up and start proving their merit in preseason action.

For this preseason matchup, it feels safe to say that the Panthers have a bit more to learn about their team than the Bears. Chicago’s place is largely set, though some breakout performers could emerge. Either way, it’s great to welcome football back and this should be a fun matchup to help kick off the preseason.
