Vikings vs. Saints, NFL Preseason Week 1: How to watch
The New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings face off and kick off the 2019 preseason with high hopes. Live stream, TV info and how to watch.
It was two seasons ago in the playoffs when the Minnesota Vikings miraculously ousted the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round on a last-second touchdown. One more bit of postseason heartbreak later for Drew Brees and company and now these two teams face off on Friday night to get their respective 2019 NFL preseason schedules underway.
Given that it’s the preseason, the Saints likely won’t give us much from Brees, Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara in this matchup. However, that could mean big reps for Teddy Bridgewater and exciting young players like Tre’Quan Smith on offense and rookie Chauncey Gardner-Johnson with the defense.
Meanwhile, the Vikings may not give us much of their stars either with Kirk Cousins, Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and even Dalvin Cook likely seeing limited or no reps. Even still, getting to see the revamped offensive line led by rookie Garrett Bradbury and also seeing how another rookie, running back Alexander Mattison, perform will be well worth tuning in for.
The Vikings and Saints will get things started at the Superdome at 8:00 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on local cable networks. Fans likely won’t see a great deal of big names in this game and very little of the ones they do. That says a lot about where the Vikings and Saints are as teams, in truth. Even still, there are young players still looking to make an impact that could undoubtedly shine in this preseason matchup.
