The Dallas Cowboys lost 17-9 to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1 of the 2019 NFL Preseason. Despite the loss, these three players stood out for Big D.

It was a rather sloppy game for the Dallas Cowboys as they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in their first preseason game of the season. Their first-string offense hit the field first and moved the ball with ease, but bogged down once they got inside the 10 — which was a common occurrence last season as well.

After settling for three, the starters took a seat and the backups were running the show from there. There were many hiccups along the way as they failed to score a touchdown and saw kicker Brett Maher finish the night 3-of-4 while accounting for all their points.

This doesn’t mean some players didn’t standout for Dallas in a good way, and here we pick out three players who looked good in the opener.

Shout out, and Welcome Back: Travis Frederick

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best centers in football and that became apparent when Travis Frederick missed all of the 2018 season while he battled Guillain-Barré syndrome. Without him, the offensive line struggled throughout much of the season, so seeing him back on the field in Week 1 of the preseason was a welcome sight.

You could also see a difference in the play of the line. While Joe Looney did well as the replacement, Frederick is just on a different level — which was especially evident in the holes made in the run game.

Frederick is one of the good guys in the sport and the team is much better when he’s out there leading the O-line.
