Moving on from head coach Adam Gase was a good move for the Miami Dolphins. He was a divisive force that pushed out star players and lost the locker room last season. Not only did it help them to move on from Gase to Brian Flores, the former New England Patriots assistant, but it did damage to a divisional opponent as Gase landed with the New York Jets.

Miami defeated the Atlanta Falcons 34-27 in their preseason debut, which is hard to judge during the exhibition games. What was easy to see though, was the struggles they had keeping the Falcons players from getting through their offensive line.

Second-year quarterback Josh Rosen is trying to win the starting job as he’s competing against veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick and was under duress for the majority of the game. He was hit several times but was still 13-of-20 with 191 yards, although he did throw a pick.

Miami did get a look at their top draft pick Christian Wilkins, who was in on three tackles in his debut. Another rookie made his presence known as Preston Williams, undrafted out of Colorado State, led the team with four receptions for 97 yards. He has a good chance at making the roster this season, a year that looks to be a rebuilding campaign.
