NFL Power Rankings 2019: Raiders have helmet issues, Browns hype grows
By Randy Gurzi
9. Pittsburgh Steelers (13)
For the first time in a long time, there’s a quarterback controversy going on with the Pittsburgh Steelers — thankfully for them, it’s not with the starter. Ben Roethlisberger is still the man under center, but the question is who will be the primary backup. Josh Dobbs got the start this week as he and second-year signal-caller Mason Rudolph are fighting to be No. 2 this season.
Dobbs was good, going 5-of-8 for 85 yards while also showing off his legs as he ran 44 yards on two carries. Rudolph had the same number of attempts and completions with only six more yards, but he did throw two touchdowns on the night.
While the play of those two was nice to see, an even better sight was the play of second-year wideout James Washington. Rudolph’s former teammate caught an eight-yard touchdown from Rudolph and led the team with 84 yards and four receptions.
Should Washington develop into the player they hoped he would be this season, that could really help the Steelers as they look to replace the production of Antonio Brown who was traded to the Oakland Raiders this offseason. Brown forced his way out after a feud with Big Ben, and they need someone to step up alongside JuJu Smith-Schuster, who had a breakout season a year ago.
