6. Philadelphia Eagles (6)

A tough injury took out Nate Sudfeld as the Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback broke his wrist and will need surgery. That was a stark reminder of why so many teams keep their stars on the bench for most of, if not all of the preseason. The Eagles did play it cautiously as Sudfeld was out there in place of Carson Wentz who has had his own share of injury concerns.

With Sudfeld out, Philly turned to Cody Kessler who has been with both the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars. He’s not as bad as his record suggests and could be a viable No. 2 option. The problem is, he’s not likely to win a Super Bowl or take the team from the brink of extinction and make the playoffs the way Nick Foles did the past two seasons before leaving for the Jaguars.

Even with that being the case, the Eagles are still looking good heading into the 2019 season. Wentz is healthy and ready to roll and they added two solid runners in Jordan Howard and Miles Sanders this offseason. On defense, they picked up Malik Jackson who will line up at defensive tackle next to Fletcher Cox.

As long as Wentz stays healthy, this team will compete. Admittedly, that’s easier said than done as he has missed the end of their past two seasons while also missing time in the preseason during his rookie season.
