1. Kansas City Chiefs (1)

So, Patrick Mahomes picked up where he left off. The reigning NFL MVP led the Kansas City Chiefs on a seven-play, 83-yard drive that took just 3:47. He was a perfect 4-of-4 passing for 66 yards and added 10 yards with his legs. The drive was capped off with a one-yard touchdown from running back Carlos Hyde.

None of this was unexpected as Kansas City was easily the best offense in the NFL last season. They have no weaknesses on that side of the ball and can be impossible to stop at times. What held them back from winning it all last season though, was their defense.

After dedicating a lot of resources to that side of the ball in the offseason, they nearly started out with a splash as they forced a turnover on the Bengals first drive as Kendall Fuller forced a fumble but then the play was overturned as the officials decided Tyler Boyd never had full possession of the ball.

Their leading tackler in the win was one of their new additions as Darron Lee was all over the field and finished with eight tackles. He joins other new stars such as Tyrann Mathieu, Bashaud Breeland, Frank Clark and rookie Juan Thornhill. If they can take the defense to the next level, this could be their year.
