25. Detroit Lions (26)

Head coach Matt Patricia didn’t use his top players but still can’t be too happy with the lack of positives his Detroit Lions showed in their 31-3 loss to the New England Patriots. Playing against his former team, Patricia’s club didn’t get into any rhythm at all on either side of the ball.

Detroit finished with less than 100 yards as they had just 93 compared to 459 for New England and they had just eight first downs while New England had 26. The worst stat was the Pats having 326 yards compared to just 21 for the Lions. That passing number looks really bad, but wasn’t that terrible. They did actually throw for 102 yards but were sacked nine times for a loss of 81 yards.

Backup quarterback Tom Savage was injured as well, leaving them with just David Fales backing up Matthew Stafford. That prompted Detroit to work out a couple of veterans as they are concerned about their depth.

Again, this horrible outing was the result of all the starters watching from the sidelines. It isn’t worth panicking over, but it’s concerning as it means their depth is a serious problem. They could be in trouble if any of their key players goes down.
