With the Dallas Cowboys first preseason game done, we stop to predict how the 53-man roster will shape out when they kick off the 2019 season

After posting 10 wins and six losses in 2019, the Dallas Cowboys look to take the next step as a franchise in 2019. They’ve won the NFC East twice in the past three years but they haven’t gotten past the second round of the playoffs — in fact, they haven’t advanced beyond that round since the days of Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith.

That drought has led to plenty of frustration among the fan base, but that’s also carrying over into the front office. While owner Jerry Jones still wants Jason Garrett to be the head coach, he’s not giving him an extension on his contract which ends after this year. When asked about it, Jones essentially said they will see what happens this year.

"“There’s no secret that the guy to my right here, I want to be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys for as long as I’m around to spell it,” Jones said, pointing to Garrett. “That would be my goal, and that’s no secret, and many of you have written about it in various ways. So let’s see what’s ahead.” — via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk"

With Garrett coaching for his job, the Cowboys need to make sure to put the best 53 men on their roster for him to work with. However, that won’t be easy as they’ve built a talented, young core.

Here, we try and predict what players will make the final cut at the end of this year’s training camp.
