With a devastating injury to inside linebacker Oren Burks, fellow inside linebacker Curtis Bolton should see a huge uptick in snaps early on against the Ravens. Burks suffered a pectoral muscle injury against the Texans and could start the season on injured reserve. That leaves Blake Martinez, Ty Summers, Bolton, Brady Sheldon and James Crawford as the team’s options at inside linebacker.

Bolton, who was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma back in May, had a few good plays against the Texans last Thursday, finishing with two total tackles on 23 snaps. In Burks’ absence, Bolton has been the other starting inside linebacker next to Martinez with the first-team defense in base personnel.

It’ll be interesting to see how many snaps Bolton garners against the Ravens on Thursday, especially if the first-team defense plays most of the first quarter. Summers, who also impressed against the Texans, should see a considerable amount of time alongside Bolton in the second quarter and beyond.

Bolton had an impressive 2018 season at Oklahoma, logging 139 total tackles (70 solo), 13 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two pass breakups and two fumble recoveries.
