3. Trent Williams, OT, Washington Redskins

Throughout his career, Trent Williams has established himself as one of the best offensive tackles in the league. The fourth overall pick from the 2010 NFL Draft, Williams has consistently offered tremendous protection on the left side of the offensive line for the Washington Redskins, no matter who’s been playing quarterback for them.

However, as Williams has dealt with some injuries in recent years, he feels that Washington has not had his best interests in mind. Thus, the relationship between the team and player has reached critical mass with Williams demanding a trade or his release. While Washington seems adamant that they won’t trade him, it’s in their best interest to do so.

At this point, it doesn’t seem like the offensive tackle is about to blink anytime soon. While the Redskins try to develop young quarterback Dwayne Haskins, they need to get some stability on the offensive line. Hoping Williams returns doesn’t help that and they need to simply get what they can for the offensive tackle in a trade.

Top Possible Destination: Cleveland Browns

The Houston Texans also make sense as a destination but after taking two tackles in the 2019 draft, it feels unlikely that they’d make this move. Thus, the Browns are the top landing spot here. Offensive line is the only clear weakness for Cleveland coming into this season, even after Greg Robinson was solid last year and re-signed. Williams would be an immediate upgrade and help solidify things up front for the Browns.
