The Chicago Bears and Khalil Mack aim to slow the hype on New York Giants rookie Daniel Jones in Week 2 of the NFL preseason. Here’s all you need to watch.

Everyone that said the New York Giants made a colossal mistake by spending a first-round pick on Daniel Jones looked silly in the first week of the 2019 NFL preseason. The rookie took the field and was near-perfect for the G-Men. Now he’ll look to follow that with an impressive encore effort in Week 2 of the preseason as they welcome Khalil Mack and the Chicago Bears to town.

As good as Jones looked and as bad as Eli Manning looked, it still appears as if the latter is the starter for Pat Shurmur’s team come the regular season. Even still, they want to see big things from the rookie signal-caller. On top of that, it’d be great to see Saquon Barkley get a few touches on Friday night, in addition to seeing Deandre Baker, Jabrill Peppers and the defense look more cohesive.

Facing the vaunted Bears defense will certainly test the New York offense. Even if Mack doesn’t play, this is a loaded unit featuring big-time players like Roquan Smith, Eddie Jackson, Akiem Hicks and plenty more. The big question for Chicago, which may start to be answered on Friday, is if Mitchell Trubisky, Tarik Cohen and the offense take a step forward in the second season under Matt Nagy.

This matchup will be broadcast on NFL Network in primetime on Friday night. While the Bears may have Super Bowl aspirations, the Giants decidedly do not. However, New York is in the business of trying to set themselves up for a fruitful future. Seeing Jones against one of the NFL’s best defenses and how he performs in that role will be a great way to accomplish just that.
