The Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams face off in Honolulu in Preseason Week 2. Here are 3 players to watch in that game.
In Preseason Week 2, the Dallas Cowboys take on the Los Angeles Rams in a game that will take place at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, HI. As is the case with most preseason games, the starters aren’t expected to do a whole lot, which could help them enjoy the trip just a little more.
That doesn’t mean these games aren’t important — because they are. These are the contests that help coaches decide who makes the final roster and who ends up being cut. It’s never an easy decision when those decisions are made and every year, there are a few players who make it even harder on the team to decide.
There are also some important battles going on for starting jobs. This season, there are some spots that could be up for grabs, which would include the defensive tackle spot as well as the strong safety position.
With those battles — and looming cuts — this game will be invaluable to some members of the team. Here, we look at three such players who have a lot riding on this exhibition match.
Bonus Player: Mike White, Quarterback
It was hard to narrow this down to three players, so we have one bonus mention in quarterback Mike White. The second-year signal-caller was a fifth-round pick in 2018 as the team hoped he could push Cooper Rush for the second-string job.
So far, he doesn’t seem up to the task. Last week was especially hard to watch as White finished 9-of-20 passing for 87 yards. In his defense, he does have third-string (and lower) offensive linemen blocking for him, but then again, the defense he’s facing is the same caliber.
In short, White needs to start turning a corner if he wants to remain with the team that drafted him.
