The New England Patriots earned their second win of the 2019 preseason but who stepped up the biggest in the victory over the Titans on Saturday?

As you’d expect, Tom Brady didn’t suit up for the New England Patriots as they played their second game of the 2019 preseason on Saturday night. There’s not much that would be gained for anyone to see the veteran to get on the field against the Tennessee Titans. Even without the six-time Super Bowl champion, though, Bill Belichick’s team still picked up the 22-17 win over the Titans.

On Saturday, it was a strong effort by a lot of young players suiting up for the Patriots, particularly from their 2019 rookie class. These players all stepped up and delivered their best performances of the young preseason to date. While the final score may have been close, the Pats looked collected and composed against the team coached by former New England defender Mike Vrabel.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at five standout performers for the New England Patriots in their big win over the Titans.

5. Jakobi Meyers, WR

Throughout Patriots training camp while fans have been hoping for first-round pick N’Keal Harry to become an immediate big-time contributor, another wide receiver has been stealing headlines: undrafted rookie Jakobi Meyers. The former NC State pass-catcher has been raved about throughout almost every practice and he put that into motion on Saturday against the Titans.

Meyers hauled in all six of his targets on the night for a game-high 82 yards. Perhaps even more impressive was the fact that Meyers’ longest reception was for just 16 yards, highlighting the fact that he was consistently ripping off chunks of yardage whenever he was making plays. That could make him a valuable weapon for this offense and is a sign that what he’s shown in training camp could be what he actually brings to the table when the lights get brighter.
