NFL Power Rankings 2019: Patriots get Josh Gordon, Chargers lose Derwin James
By Dan Parzych
23. Jacksonville Jaguars (24)
Lucky for the Jacksonville Jaguars, it’s only the preseason, and the previous two weeks shouldn’t be an indication of what the 2019 season will have in store.
If Nick Foles actually suited up to face his former team in the Philadelphia Eagles, the outcome of Thursday’s game would have been much different, but obviously there was no point in playing the former Super Bowl MVP in a meaningless game.
Once Foles does suit up for the real action come September, the Jaguars will hopefully see better results than last year when the team took a major step back as a legitimate contender in the AFC.
Foles obviously won’t have the same kind of firepower he had to work with in Philadelphia, but Jacksonville would love nothing more than to see their new quarterback bring out the best in some of the younger receivers.
With Blake Bortles no longer part of the picture, a fresh start with a more reliable quarterback in Foles will hopefully get this offense to finally live up to their true potential.
But as mentioned before, the good news for the Jaguars is the lack of offense from the preseason shouldn’t be viewed as what to expect during the regular season since the circumstances will be much different with the starters.
