NFL Power Rankings 2019: Patriots get Josh Gordon, Chargers lose Derwin James
By Dan Parzych
27. Buffalo Bills (26)
Thanks to last year’s surprise success as a rookie, the Buffalo Bills realized the importance of building a better offense around Josh Allen, or it would only prevent the quarterback from reaching his true potential.
Cole Beasley may not seem like that much of a difference-maker in the passing game, but watching the former Dallas Cowboys wideout haul in five passes for 44 yards against the Carolina Panthers shows this could turn out to be an underrated move.
Obviously, the real test will come once the actual regular season starts, but at least a game like this from Beasley shows what he can bring to the table in 2019 while making life a little easier for Allen to deal with in the process.
For years, Buffalo had been in desperate need of finding a quarterback to build the franchise around, and even though Allen still has a long way to go, it is a huge relief to feel confident in having someone who seems like the answer.
Maybe if Allen can help the offense reach a new level in 2019 while the defense continues to make a case for being a top unit in the league, the Bills will earn another trip to the playoffs for the second time in three years.
This is always easier said than done, but at least with two wins so far in preseason, Buffalo will be worth keeping an eye on.
