NFL Power Rankings 2019: Patriots get Josh Gordon, Chargers lose Derwin James

26. New York Giants (23)
Sure, it was great to see Eli Manning complete all four of his pass attempts against the Chicago Bears with one of them being a touchdown, but the real story once again is how great Daniel Jones looked under center.
The Giants can deny all they want about how there isn’t a quarterback competition, but also how many chances can Manning receive before the team realizes it’s time to move on?
Using a first-round pick on Jones this past April made it clear that New York is already considering the future on offense, and rightfully so since Manning hasn’t exactly looked his sharpest at times in recent years.
Fair or not, Jones has already seen plenty of criticism over the last few months since many believe the Giants would have been better off going with someone else in the first round, but his performance against the Bears makes it seem like he was the right choice.
Completing 11 of 14 passes for 161 yards with a touchdown to help New York pull off the win over Chicago shows that maybe Jones will be better off than some of his critics expected.
And while Jones still seems far from winning the starting job over Manning, at least another performance like this shows it shouldn’t be ruled out.
