NFL Power Rankings 2019: Patriots get Josh Gordon, Chargers lose Derwin James

25. Miami Dolphins (21)
If the Miami Dolphins were smart, they wouldn’t even hesitate when it comes to determining whether Josh Rosen deserves to be the starter over Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback at the beginning of the 2019 season.
Otherwise, it’s only going to put a delay on the UCLA product reaching his true potential in the NFL, and Rosen’s rookie campaign in 2018 made it clear he’s still a work in progress.
Fitzpatrick may be a good short-term solution for Miami, but also since the chances of the Dolphins being an actual contender this year seem slim, why wouldn’t they just roll with Rosen?
Against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rosen’s numbers were decent for the most part after completing 10 of 18 passes for 102 yards, although it would have been better if he wasn’t sacked three times.
With two games remaining in the preseason, the Dolphins should allow Rosen to play as much as possible to put him in better position to earn the starting job once September arrives.
Otherwise, it will seem like Miami is completely wasting their time with Fitzpatrick instead of focusing on Rosen’s development, which is most important if he’s going to have any shot at being the quarterback of the future for the team.
