KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI – DECEMBER 09: Running back Damien Williams #26 of the Kansas City Chiefs carries the ball into the endzone for a touchdown to tie the score in the final minute of the game against the Baltimore Ravens at Arrowhead Stadium on December 09, 2018 in Kansas City, Missouri. 2. Damien Williams, RB, Kansas City Chiefs

With the release of Pro Bowl running back Kareem Hunt, Damien Williams stepped in and was a fine replacement. In Weeks 14-17, he had 352 total yards and six touchdowns on 60 touches. That’s the kind of production you look for from a starting fantasy running back.

Williams has Patrick Mahomes, coming off his explosion for 50 touchdown passes, and one of the best tight ends in the league, Travis Kelce, surrounding him. That opens up the field for a player that should be an every-down back in a high-octane offense.

The Chiefs did add veteran running Carlos Hyde in the offseason. However, Williams’ tenure in Kansas City should be enough to earn him the starting job. In this offense run by head coach Andy Reid, he could be a fantasy football darling.

1. Baker Mayfield, QB, Cleveland Browns

Baker Mayfield burst onto the scene in Cleveland after starting last season on the bench behind Tyrod Taylor for the first two weeks of the year. But after Taylor eventually fell short of expectations, Mayfield stepped in and was nothing short of phenomenal.

Mayfield had 3,725 yards, 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions while on his way to leading the Browns to their best record in over a decade (7-8-1) and winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year. He finished 16th in fantasy points among quarterbacks last season and enjoyed a 93.7 QBR.

With the addition of one of the best receivers in the league, Odell Beckham Jr., and the rise of fellow young star, running back Nick Chubb, keeping the defenses guessing and with a full year on the field, Mayfield needs to be a starter on your fantasy team. In 2019, he can become one of the faces of the league and a fantasy football stud that helps you win your league.
