2. Mike Glennon, QB

The Oakland Raiders have an embarrassment of riches at the quarterback position. With Derek Carr solid at the top of the depth chart, backup prospects Mike Glennon and Nathan Peterman will battle for the second spot with nothing guaranteed. Both have played well, but knowing the history of Gruden and quarterbacks, neither should take anything for granted.

Against the Los Angeles Rams, Glennon looked average-to-steady, completing 17 of 25 passes for 200 yards and two interceptions. He would come back against the Arizona Cardinals with a much better line. In the desert, Glennon would pass for 175 yards and connect for two touchdowns.

Worth noting is how well Peterman has also played. Against Los Angeles, he would pass for 66 yards and run for another 56. In Arizona, he didn’t miss on eight pass attempts.

Gruden has to be pleased with what he has in his quarterback room. Having said that, he can be absolutely brutal on his signal-callers. A bad game on Thursday night against the Packers could spell doom for Glennon who already has tossed a couple of interceptions. As much as Gruden loves a veteran NFL player, he’s made no secret how impressed he’s been with Peterman.

As I said, the Raiders have an embarrassment of riches in Oakland, which Gruden told to NBC Sports Bay Area:

"“We have two veteran backup quarterbacks who have started in this league,” head coach Jon Gruden said. “I think they are both good enough to play in the NFL, but we’re not done yet.”"

While Glennon has the inside track, he should be looking over his shoulder knowing Gruden won’t be hesitant to make a change.
