Arizona Cardinals: 3 Players to watch vs. Vikings in Preseason Week 3
By Steve Rivera
1. Kliff Kingsbury, HC
First-year head coach Kliff Kingsbury, may not be a player but he is becoming a bigger story than he would probably like to be. Against the Raiders, he was heavily criticized for looking confused and unprepared in only his second preseason game.
It was fair, if not over the top and a little premature, in that he has yet to coach a regular-season game. All that said, Kingsbury absolutely has to have a better game against the Vikings.
Like his rookie quarterback, too many questions need to be answered. Week 2 of the preseason left a bad taste in the mouth of too many to simply dismiss it as a bad game. Kingsbury did look ”in over his head” giving his many critics another reason to pile on.
He needs a good game in Week 3 of this exhibition season. He can’t afford another week where he looks as if he’s not in command. He also needs to change an opinion that he might be bad for his rookie quarterback.
Both Murray and Kingsbury are in the weeds heading to Minnesota. It’s less important they win but is absolutely necessary they do not look like it’s their first day of professional football. A critical NFL and fanbase can be coaxed off the ledge by a good showing. Anything less will affirm that the Cardinals aren’t just in trouble in 2019, but for a few seasons to come.
