Texans vs. Cowboys, NFL Preseason Week 3: How to watch
By Randy Gurzi
The annual Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans matchup takes place in Week 3 of the 2019 NFL Preseason. Here are the details needed to catch the game.
It may sound like a college rivalry, but it doesn’t really have the same alure. The Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans meet every year to play in a game that is known as the Governor’s Cup.
Again, it isn’t widely advertised so the casual fan can be forgiven for not knowing the name of this matchup. It also doesn’t help that the game takes places mostly in the preseason as the two teams are in different conferences therefore only meet once every four years in the regular season.
Speaking of those games that count in the standings, the Texans will always own the first defeat between these two clubs. Back in their inaugural season of 2002, Houston knocked off Dallas in a surprising 19-10 victory.
They also are on a three-game winning streak now as they have taken the previous two preseason games and the last regular season contest which was this past October. In that game, Houston was able to secure an overtime win by a score of 19-16.
This won’t be the game for revenge though, as each team is simply out to prepare for the 2019 season. For Dallas, that includes continuing to try and build confidence in the ground game while running back Ezekiel Elliott holds out. Houston could also have a running back storyline as newly acquired Duke Johnson is now practicing and could get some reps in this game.
Here are the details for Saturday’s game between the Cowboys and Texans:
Date: Saturday, Aug. 24
Start Time: 7:00 p.m. ET
Location: Arlington, TX
Stadium: AT&T Stadium
TV Info: NFL Network
Live Stream: NFL Game Pass (replay), NFL.com, FuboTV
The third preseason game is oftentimes the one that features the most work by the starters. That could make this one more interesting than the previous two weeks, which is worth tuning in for.
