Which Dallas Cowboys on the roster bubble are fighting for a spot among the final 53 players when they play the Bucs in their final preseason matchup?

Contract talks have been the prevailing narrative surrounding the Dallas Cowboys in the 2019 NFL preseason. Running back Ezekiel Elliott has held out throughout all of training camp in search of a new deal. Meanwhile, quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver Amari Cooper have been present but also haven’t gotten a new contract.

The one player that has gotten a new deal is linebacker Jaylon Smith, who signed a lucrative five-year extension in the middle of August. Now fans are waiting to see who the next big name in the Cowboys locker room to be locked up long term will be.

In the meantime, though, the Cowboys have been impressing in the preseason. Their latest exploit in Week 3 of the exhibition contests saw them thoroughly dominate the in-state rival Houston Texans with a 34-0 win. This is clearly a deep team with high-end talent at the top of the depth chart and quality backups behind those players.

Given that talent and depth, though, that means Dallas’ front office could have a number of tough decisions to make come Aug. 31 when rosters must be cut down to 53 players heading into the regular season. There are going to be quality players — guys who will surely be picked up by one of the other 31 teams should the be released — that just miss out on the Cowboys’ 53-man squad.

Heading into the Dallas Cowboys’ final game of the preseason against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a game in which America’s Team will try to figure out these final cut questions, these are three players on the roster bubble that need to perform well to make the final roster.
