With the regular season closing in, this is the final week for Seattle Seahawks players on the roster bubble to make a good impression.

The Seattle Seahawks are 2-1 in preseason play entering the final week. The fans might not care how the final game plays out though, considering their eyes are already turning toward the regular season. However, Thursday against the Oakland Raiders is the final chance for players on the roster bubble to leave an impression in their coaches’ minds. For these players, Week 4 of the preseason means everything.

Seattle has added a lot of players through free agency and the draft this offseason. These additions have pushed veteran players to the brink of the roster, and some will be cut. Also, the team has added so many players that not all of these additions will survive either.

For some players, it will be a short-lived stint in Seattle.

Jamar Taylor, CB

The veteran cornerback signed a one-year, $895,000 contract with Seattle back in May. Despite being a relatively recent addition, there’s no guarantee that Taylor will make the final roster. If the Seahawks feel that there is a better prospect in place, they will part ways with Taylor. Even right now, Taylor isn’t a priority player for the Seahawks and seems to be filling a replaceable role.

This doesn’t have to necessarily be Taylor either. Kalan Reed and DeShawn Shead also fit the profile. Reed re-signed with the team on a one-year, $720,000 contract back in March, while Shead only agreed to a one-year, $930,000 deal in July.

Reed is only 25, but Shead is already 30 and Taylor is closing in on 29. In this sense, Reed has Father Time on his side. On the other hand, Shead and Taylor are more expendable. Reed was recently placed on IR though, and that could complicate things.

While all three corners have to feel uneasy heading into the final week of the preseason, the Seahawks don’t exactly have a deep or stable cornerback corp. There are plenty of ways the final roster could shake out at this position.
