5. Jordon Scott, IDL, Oregon

Teams looking for a clogger in the middle of their defense need to look no further than Oregon defensive tackle Jordon Scott. He won’t win any athletic contest, but he could easily be one of the strongest players in college football. Scott is an early-down tackle who thrives in the run game.

The 6-1, nearly 340-pound tackle is a load to deal with. He plays with raw, controlled strength. He can anchor against double teams and still make a play against the ball carrier. Although he doesn’t add much value on passing downs as a penetrator, he can help other guys around him by eating up space and opposing blockers.

For those teams looking for a defensive tackle to eat up blockers and keep guys clean, Scott is the man to answer the call. Plug him in at the 0 and allow him to eat up space immediately in any defense. He’s an ideal fit for 3-4 teams or 4-3 teams who need to keep their inside linebackers clean.

Teams don’t value tackles that can’t play on third downs. At this point in the season, he’s more of a day three pick. Nevertheless, anything is possible and he’s a fringe top-100 prospect, maybe even top 75. If he can show improved speed and quickness, his draft stock can grow.
