1. Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

Was there any doubt who’d be the No. 1 prospect on the list? If Justin Herbert entered the 2019 NFL Draft, there’s no reason to believe he wouldn’t have been in play for the No. 1 overall pick. The same goes for this season.

When it’s all said and done, Herbert can hear his name announced as the first quarterback taken in the 2020 NFL Draft. Herbert will receive a ton of coverage as will all the quarterbacks.

Like any prospect, he has his weaknesses. He’s a little thin, despite being billed at over 235 pounds, so durability is a concern. But he has room to grow on his 6-6 frame. The offense makes things easier to read. However, he has an excellent grasp on timing and placement.

In today’s NFL, having an athletic quarterback is almost a necessity. Luckily for Herbert and teams looking for one, he is just that type of player. When the pocket collapses, he has the sense to move out of harm’s way. He also avoids tacklers and can get yards with his feet, as evidenced by his success running read options.

Herbert can throw on the run with velocity and accuracy. No, he’s not a complete prospect but he’s similar to guy like Vince Young. His arm talent, size, athletic ability and upside make him arguably the top quarterback prospect in the 2020 draft.
