Even though franchise quarterback Andrew Luck hung up his cleats, the Indianapolis Colts are still in a good position to win the AFC South.

It has been a whirlwind of a week (one could even say offseason) for the Indianapolis Colts. The biggest domino to fall was the news that franchise quarterback Andrew Luck is retiring. The news broke while the Colts were in the middle of their third preseason game, which sent shockwaves through the NFL.

Luck cited deteriorating joy and a constant cycle of pain and rehab as reasons for him stepping away from the gridiron. It was tough to see a player of Luck’s caliber hang it up so early, but it is completely understandable. If he doesn’t feel like he can physically and mentally do it, he should walk away.

With Luck now in the rearview mirror, many questioned how the Colts would fair this season. They were legit title contenders if Luck were to play this season, but now people are wondering if they would even reach the playoffs. With former backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett now the starter, it is fair to question if he has what it takes to get Indianapolis to where they desire to be.

However, the Colts will be just fine without Luck. As a whole, their team is loaded with young talent on both sides of the ball. Even without Luck as the signal-caller, the Colts still have a legitimate chance to not only get into the postseason but win the AFC South.

That might sound crazy to some, but if one takes time to think about not only the Colts but the other AFC South teams, it’s not that far-fetched to see the Colts as AFC South champs by the time the 2019 season ends.
