3 Reasons Daniel Jones made New York Giants big winners of 2019 preseason
By Dan Parzych
The future appears to be bright for Daniel Jones with the New York Giants after the rookie’s first preseason.
Back in April, there were plenty of upset New York Giants fans over the team’s decision to go with Daniel Jones in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, mainly because there seemed to be plenty of better options available.
All due respect to the former Duke star, but the argument can be made that Jones still would have been available later in the round for the Giants, meaning they could have gone with another key player with the No. 6 pick.
Even in the weeks after the draft, Jones seemed to receive all sorts of unfair criticism from the fan base, as fans didn’t hold back how upset they were over the rookie quarterback being part of the long-term plans for the Giants.
Sooner or later, Eli Manning will need to call it a career, and if New York is being honest, many questioned if the two-time Super Bowl champion would even be part of the picture for the upcoming season.
Since Manning is obviously still around, it looks like Jones will need to be patient for at least the beginning of the new season to see how things play out, although his time to start will be here before the Giants know it.
For now, New York should just be thrilled over the progress made by Jones over the last four weeks, and in honor of the future with the Giants, here are three reasons why the rookie quarterback made the team big winners from the recent preseason.
