The strength of three: The 30 greatest trios in NFL history
By Ian Cummings
There was always only one team that could claim the title of the first Super Bowl era dynasty. That team is the Green Bay Packers.
It serves as both excellent timing and a culmination of work, dedication, and patience that Vince Lombardi‘s Packers were in a position to succeed when the first AFL-NFL World Championship, better known as Super Bowl I, came into place at the end of the1966 NFL season.
Lombardi, along with Pro Football Hall of Famers Bart Starr and Jim Taylor, had established a winning tradition in Green Bay with his unique coaching style, which maximized its players and treated every player as an equal part of success.
It was true; the Packers needed every player. But it helped that they had the 1966 NFL MVP in Starr and Taylor manning the ranks. With Lombardi’s legendary football acumen and the skill of Starr and Taylor, the Packers won the first two Super Bowls in NFL history. No one else can say that. No one.
