New York Giants shouldn’t start Daniel Jones at all in 2019 season
No matter how bad the New York Giants are and no matter how bad Eli Manning is, Daniel Jones shouldn’t start in 2019
Remember in April at the 2019 NFL Draft where everyone was losing their minds when the New York Giants drafted Daniel Jones with the No. 6 overall pick? Many Giants fans were disappointed (that is putting it nicely) and wondered what general manager Dave Gettleman was thinking when he took the Duke prospect.
Fast forward to the end of preseason, and many of those same people who were doubting the Jones selection are now pushing for him to start this season. Some even believe he should be the starter for Week 1.
After putting together a very impressive training camp and preseason, Giants fans have seemed to have hopped on the Daniel Jones bandwagon. Despite having a two time Super Bowl MVP in Eli Manning, the murmurs are getting gradually louder for Jones to become the starter for a Giants team that is more than likely going to be at the bottom of the NFL this year.
However, Let’s pump the brakes on Jones taking the reins as the primary signal-caller for the G-Men. He still is a rookie quarterback who still has a lot of growing to do before he is truly ready to become the man in charge in the Big Apple.
If the Giants honestly believe that he is their quarterback of the future, they should do themselves (and Jones) a favor and not start him a single game in 2019. No matter how badly Manning plays, no matter how awful the Giants might turn out to be, do not put him into the starting lineup at all in the 2019 NFL season.
