1. The Mitch Trubisky-led offense

Here is where we get to the crux of the many people waiting for a Chicago Bears collapse. They still don’t have confidence in Trubisky and continue to think that he’ll hold the Bears back.

Well, I don’t know why they still continue to think that. He had a pretty good 2018 campaign, going 11-3, throwing for 3,223 yards, 24 touchdowns against 12 interceptions, and rushing for 421 yards and three touchdowns. He did that while learning his third offensive system in three seasons.

Furthermore, Trubisky showed he was ready for the pressure of the playoffs. He threw for 303 yards and a touchdown, and, as I mentioned, threw no interceptions. Despite what many people expected, he wasn’t the reason the Bears lost the game. In fact, he put them in a position to win on the last drive.

Trubisky spent this offseason perfecting the playbook. He understands it completely now that he hasn’t had to go to another system. He spent last season thinking too much. This season, he knows where everyone is supposed to be.

Last season he had trouble getting the ball to where the receiver was on deep routes. There were many times when Allen Robinson was open on a play but Trubisky missed him. This season he should be able to get the ball where it should go and connect, which will help Robinson’s number.

Trubisky and Robinson did connect in the playoff game. Trubisky threw Robinson’s way 13 times and he caught 10 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. That gave fans and coaches hope for the 2019 campaign.

Trubisky doesn’t have to be Joe Montana for the Bears to have a great season. If he continues to do what he did a year ago and just completes a few more passes deep or the outs that he had trouble with, this becomes a dangerous offense. The Bears ranked ninth in points scored a season ago. If Trubisky takes another step up and the players stay healthy, then there is no reason this can be a top-five offense.
