Expectations are through the roof for the New Orleans Saints in 2019 and rightfully so. We could be in for a surprise though so let’s look at both sides.

The New Orleans Saints are arguably the most promising team in the NFL. Each year, they seem to get a little bit closer. Last year, the Saints managed to make it in the second round of the playoffs before blowing a lead against the Rams. No doubt that part of it had to do with the blown pass interference call. Regardless, the expectations for the Saints in 2019 are beyond high.

Everything isn’t all sunshine and rainbows for the Saints, though. They lost a handful of impact players. including Max Unger to retirement along with Mark Ingram and Alex Okafor in free agency.

Additionally, the Saints have multiple players who are coming off of injury including Sheldon Rankins and Marcus Davenport. For the most part, the Saints are in pretty good shape for the 2019 season.

Currently, there are a few concerns about Drew Brees’ age finally catching up to him but it seems like speculation more than anything. The Saints locked down Michael Thomas, an obvious component in their quest to the Super Bowl.

Alvin Kamara looks to be in good shape as the team’s lead back and the offensive line has an excellent mix of veterans and young guys. As for the defense, the team locked down Cameron Jordan and put on an excellent showing against the Jets, cementing Jordan’s claims of the Saints having a Super Bowl-caliber defense.

As for their schedule, the Saints have a pretty easy schedule. They might have a few hiccups but overall, it’s not too tall of a task to weather. The team has a chance at putting up a great record, but it will come down to how much effort they put in and if the team can work in tandem as they did last season.

Let’s break down the best and worst-case scenarios for the Saints in the 2019 regular season.
