2020 NFL Mock Draft: Colts luck into new quarterback, Dolphins start future
By Randy Gurzi
After a 6-2 start in the 2018 season, the Carolina Panthers completely fell apart as they were 1-7 in the second half of the year. That happened in large part due to the shoulder injury suffered by quarterback Cam Newton.
With him not at 100 percent, the offense completely fell apart. This year, they did make an effort to keep Newton healthy as they added Greg Little and Dennis Daley in the draft.
Should that help limit the unnecessary hits on Newton, they could be much better on that side of the ball. However, they could use more help in the secondary, mainly when it comes to cornerbacks. For that help, they look to the Crimson Tide where they land Trevon Diggs
The Alabama corner has the kind of length that defensive coordinators dream of as he’s listed at 6-foot-2 and 207-pounds. He’ll end up drawing some tough challenges as a member of the Panthers as the NFC South is full of talented receivers.
Atlanta has Julio Jones, Tampa Bay can attack defenses with Mike Evans, and the Saints just made Michael Thomas the highest-paid receiver in the game. Getting someone who can at least challenge these players will be paramount if Carolina wants to continue to compete in their division.
