LSU. Grant Delpit. 5. player. 50. . Safety

The second defensive player to come off the board in this 2020 NFL Mock Draft happens to be LSU safety Grant Delpit, who lands with the Detroit Lions. Their head coach, Matt Patricia, is a defensive-minded coach trying to become better on that side of the ball.

He does that here as he adds a great weapon in Delpit, who can do just about anything asked of him in the defensive backfield.

According to John Andrade of With the First Pick, he has the ability to play in the slot, down in the box, and is great in deep coverage as well. Andrade even posed the question as to whether or not Delpit could go first overall.

"“Delpit has a great toolbox to work with. He can line up in the slot and stay on a receiver’s hip through his route as well as he can come down into the box and defend against the run. And don’t overlook his ability to make plays on the ball either; he has great range and ball skills in deep coverage.” — Andrade, With the First Pick"

Of course, coming off the board at No. 1 overall would be hard for any defensive back. Having said that, going here is quite an accomplishment for the Tigers All-American and First-Team All-SEC star.
